We highlight the baritone Alfredo García who displays good manners to endorse the dramatic arc that corresponds to him. The singer wants to endorse the stage from the beginning  and nothing stop him. He moves decisively with grace, understanding that Don Quixote is what he is. The seriousness, the constant anger with the entire universe, the madness that can leave a trail of humor or despair. We must add its powerful, versatile and full of beautiful colors and precise voice. Alfredo Garcia is a serious candidate for a total singer.

About the opera

Tomás Marco

Tomás Marco

When I finished reading Don Quixote, still very young, and after my father had talked to me, for many years, about his transcendent encounter with this novel, not only I had no plans to become a singer, but I never would have imagined that one day I would have the rare gift of embody this myth of Spanish literature, which since 400 years ago comes speaking for all, which is something the classics insist brightly on doing, ignoring the degraded that time draws on almost everything.

Furthermore, this particular Quixote, who now wears the colours of my voice and that in the future certainly will acquire the shades and tones of future colleagues, is somehow managed, assembled and drawn by the hand of a composer who is already a classic and whom I never met before.

The premiere of this piece was born with the collaboration of Tomas Marco, something that is still on today. To him I thank, not only the confidence that he has renovated in me for the interpretation of the Knight of the Sorrowful Countenance, but also having had the generosity to compose for my voice the “Tenorio” opera, of which we have already made the premiere of some scenes and that, at some point, we hope to draw out of the staves solidly and completely, with the greatness and dignity that both, Don Juan Tenorio and the one who has put music into it, should have for this occasion.

The Knight of the Sorrowful Figure is still riding on years after its premiere with the same performers that at the time gave birth to it, and we all hope that he does not run out of the roads and adventures, and his achievements extend beyond ours.
