When I finished reading Don Quixote, still very young, and after my father had talked to me, for many years, about his transcendent encounter with this novel, not only I had no plans to become a singer, but I never would have imagined that one day I would have the rare gift of embody this myth of Spanish literature, which since 400 years ago comes speaking for all, which is something the classics insist brightly on doing, ignoring the degraded that time draws on almost everything.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, this particular Quixote, who now wears the colours of my voice and that in the future certainly will acquire the shades and tones of future colleagues, is somehow managed, assembled and drawn by the hand of a composer who is already a classic and whom I never met before.<\/p>\n

The premiere of this piece was born with the collaboration of Tomas Marco, something that is still on today. To him I thank, not only the confidence that he has renovated in me for the interpretation of the Knight of the Sorrowful Countenance, but also having had the generosity to compose for my voice the “Tenorio” opera, of which we have already made the premiere of some scenes and that, at some point, we hope to draw out of the staves solidly and completely, with the greatness and dignity that both, Don Juan Tenorio and the one who has put music into it, should have for this occasion.<\/p>\n

Cuando termin\u00e9 de leer El Quijote, siendo muy joven, y despu\u00e9s de que mi padre me hubiese hablado durante a\u00f1os de su encuentro trascendente con esta novela, no s\u00f3lo no ten\u00eda planeado ser cantante, sino que no imaginaba que alg\u00fan d\u00eda iba a tener el raro regalo de encarnar a este mito de la literatura espa\u00f1ola, que desde hace ya 400 a\u00f1os viene hablando en nombre de todos, que es algo que los cl\u00e1sicos insisten en hacer de modo luminoso, ignorando los degradados que el tiempo dibuja sobre casi todas las cosas.<\/p>

Adem\u00e1s, este particular Quijote, que hoy porta los colores de mi voz y que en el futuro adquirir\u00e1 sin duda los matices y tonos de futuros colegas, est\u00e1 ingeniado, ensamblado y dibujado por la mano de un compositor que ya es un cl\u00e1sico y a quien yo no conoc\u00eda personalmente.<\/p>

Del estreno que hicimos de esta obra naci\u00f3 con Tom\u00e1s Marco una colaboraci\u00f3n que a\u00fan se extiende a d\u00eda de hoy. A \u00e9l le agradezco, no s\u00f3lo la confianza que me ha renovado para la interpretaci\u00f3n de este Caballero de la Triste Figura, sino el haber tenido la generosidad de componer para mi voz la \u00f3pera \u201cTenorio\u201d, de la cual ya hemos realizado el preestreno de algunas escenas y que en alg\u00fan momento esperamos poder extraer de los pentagramas de un modo s\u00f3lido y completo, con la grandeza y dignidad que tanto Don Juan Tenorio como quien lo ha musicado, deben tener para esta ocasi\u00f3n.<\/p>
