Songs centred on the theme of Cervantes.

Release of a new CD wit a compilation of Cervantes inspired songs , with texts mainly taken from “Don Quijote” and brought to life by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

This is the fourth volume comemorating the 400th anniversary of the first edition of Cervantes’ “Don Quijot”. In this CD, various works by the all female, IberoAmerican composers centre around the theme of the women who appear in the novel.

The selected composers are the Spanish born Matilde Salvador, Carmen Marina Gioconda, Zulema de la Cruz, Beatriz Arzamendi and the Mexican born Ana Lara.

The recording once more collects unedited and commissioned works such as that of Arzamendi, as a means of making  repetoirs known which should form part of our culture and reflect the essence of Cervantes.
